When cleansing, you might find yourself missing the foods you eat on a routine basis. This recipe was born from my craving for oatmeal during a cleanse about a year ago. I like it so much that I eat it on a regular basis, even when not detoxing!
Add a banana if you prefer, or try different fruit combinations. The “cleanest” way to make it is without almond milk. However, if you really want to, you could add almond milk for some flavor and heartiness.
1/2 c. organic quinoa
1 c. water
5 strawberries, sliced
1/4 c. blueberries
1/4 c. raspberries
1/4 c. raw organic almonds or almond slices
1 tsp. organic Grade B maple syrup
Optional — 1/2 c. all-natural, organic almond milk
In small pot, bring quinoa and water to a boil. Cover and simmer 5-10 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 2 minutes.
Put quinoa in bowl, and mix in almond milk if desired. Top with berries and almonds, then drizzle with maple syrup. Mix gently before eating.
