Kate has an M.A. in health psychology from UCLA; a B.A. in Psychological & Brain Sciences from Dartmouth College; and is a registered yoga teacher at the 500-hour level with Yoga Alliance.
Kate’s enthusiasm for health began when she was just a little girl. The child of two hard-working physicians in upstate New York, Kate was a first generation American who inherited her parents’ commitment to giving back to society. A passionate athlete, Kate spent her childhood running, horseback riding, skiing, hiking, and playing tennis and soccer. She ran Division I track and field at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, where she was a pole vaulter and a long jumper. After a serious knee injury sidelined her career in these events, Kate devoted herself to long-distance running and finished at or near the top of her age group in road races around New England.
At Dartmouth, Kate studied psychology and education and was recognized for her work in the fields of women’s health and adolescent health. She helped run a program at Dartmouth which advocated for women’s rights on campus, and worked to address issues such as gender relations and sexual assault. She also dedicated much of her college career to working with children and adolescents from vulnerable populations in the U.S., Bosnia, and the Dominican Republic.
Kate graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College in 2003. That same year she was named one of USA Today’s Academic All-Stars, a distinction given to only 60 college students in the nation who are expected to make a significant contribution to the world. After graduating from Dartmouth, Kate worked under top researchers in the fields of public health and clinical psychology. She subsequently spent three years in finance, doing research on health-related companies among other things. In 2008, Kate went back to graduate school and got her masters in health psychology from UCLA in 2010. She is a certified yoga instructor at the 500-hour level.
Kate currently resides in Los Angeles, where she happily lives with her beloved husband, Scott, and their dog, Samson. She writes, teaches yoga, and works as an independent consultant in the field of health and wellness. She is overjoyed to be sharing her love of health and well-being with the world!
